Minister gets neo-Nazi mail

Aygül Özkan, a German politician of Turkish origin, has received email threats from neo-Nazis, German weekly Bild am Sonntag reported Dec. 19. 

An investigation has been launched into the alleged threats, Hannover Prosecutor Kathrin Söfker told the paper.

“Something is waiting for [all those of Turkish origin in Germany] in 2012. We will use a new weapon to achieve our political goals and to preserve our culture as of next year,” the group said in its email to Özkan. 

A video attached to the email showed a man wearing a bear costume giving the Nazi solute and insulting a kebab shop owner.

Özkan has served as the social affairs, women, families, health and integration minister in Lower Saxony since 2010.
