High speed trains serve millions

Turkish High Speed Trains (YHT) has carried a total number of passengers almost equal to the population of three cities, according to data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

YHT has carried 5.6 million passengers since March 2009 between Ankara and Eskişehir and nearly a million passengers since August 2011 between Ankara and Konya. The population of Ankara, Eskişehir and Konya is 7.7 million people. In May, the number of travelers who used the high speed trains reached to 6.5 million. There have been 22,839 journeys between the Ankara-Eskişehir and Ankara-Konya lines as of May.
