German Embassy refreshes placard with World Cup title

The German Embassy in Turkey has changed the placard outside its building after the German national football team won the World Cup against Argentina.

“Embassy of the 2014 World Champion,” now reads the placard, which was hung up in place of the old one by the German charge d’affaires, Thomas Kurz. “The placard says everything we want to say. We are all very happy, like everyone in Germany,” Kurz told reporters outside the building in Ankara yesterday, posing near the placard for photographs.

The 1-0 victory gave Germany a fourth World Cup title, its first in 24 years.
