Erdoğan appoints new justice, interior ministers

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has appointed new justice and interior ministers in a minor cabinet reshuffle, according to decrees published in the Official Gazette on Feb. 11.

Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor Akın Gürlek was named justice minister, replacing Yılmaz Tunç, while Erzurum Governor Mustafa Çiftçi was appointed interior minister in place of Ali Yerlikaya.

State-run Anadolu Agency said Tunç’s request to be relieved from office was accepted.

In separate social media posts, Yerlikaya thanked Erdoğan and said he was handing over the post to Çiftçi, while Tunç congratulated Gürlek and wished him success. Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz also congratulated the new ministers and thanked the outgoing ones for their service.
