Zülfü Livaneli’s new traditions at İş Sanat Composer, folk singer, writer and director Zülfü Livaneli promises an evening full of surprises at İş Sanat as he performs a benefit concert for children with leukemia. He is best known for his fusion of Turkish folk music with contemporary music and his collaboration with Greek musicians, especially Mikis Theodorakis, Maria Farantouri and Haris Alexiou, which has been noted as a gesture bringing the two countries together. Livaneli has composed some 300 songs, a rhapsody recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra and a ballet. His compositions have reached cult status nationwide and have been performed by internationally renowned artists such as Joan Baez, Maria del Mar Bonet and Udo Lindenberg.
