A group of women entrepreneurs with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) is visiting India on a two-day trip, to investigate business opportunities and form new business links.

The women represent various sectors including construction, energy, mining, tourism, agriculture, advertising, and communications. The group embarked on their first such visit last year, when they went to Egypt and had a series of meetings with business leaders in different sectors. TOBB Female Entrepreneurs Bilecik President Zuhal Mansfield said that India is a huge potential market, with its population of 1.2 billion, $4.4 trillion economy and $700 billion in foreign trade volume.

“Turkey already has well developed markets in the Middle East, Eurasia, Europe, the Balkans and North Africa. As a result, India could be very beneficial to us,” Mansfield told the Anatolian news agency. A number of Indian mining companies, in particular, are interested in investing in Turkey and are looking for partners on the ground.

TOBB’s female entrepreneurs are already planning their next trip, for which such destinations as China, Australia and the U.S. have been suggested. Mansfield explained that they will present their ideas to TOBB President Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu for his feedback.
