Karatay advises consumption of certain fats

• Omega 3
• Omega 6
• Homemade butter
• Extra virgin or cold-pressed olive oil
[HH] What to eat: Day 5
Breakfast (8 am – 9 am)
• Two medium boiled eggs (or lightly cooked omelet in butter)
• 8 or 10 unsalted olives (green or black)
• Feta cheese in the size of one’s palm
• Fresh parsley
• 5 or 6 cherry tomatoes
• Sugar-free tea or milk
• Half-glass of dried hazelnuts
Snacks (optional) (10 am)
• Half-glass of dried walnuts
• Sugar-free tea or water with fresh lemon

Lunch (1 pm -2 pm)

• One portion kebab (no bread, rice or potato chips)
• Fresh onions, tomatoes, radish, parsley
• A glass of unsalted ayran* or a bowl of yogurt* with a spoonful linseed
Snacks (optional) (3 pm)
• A medium-sized apple or unsalted peanuts
• Sugar-free tea or water with fresh lemon

Dinner (6 pm – 7 pm)*
• 3 or 4 lamb cutlets

• Mixed salads
• Artichoke stew in olive oil, or purslane in yogurt

Notes:
1- Ayran is a traditional Turkish drink prepared as a thinner form of yogurt.
2- Yogurt should be made according to the traditional recipe; low-fat products are prohibited.
3- The Karatay Diet does not allow any meals after 8 pm, not even fruits.
4- The diet advises a 30 or 40 minute walk before going to bed
