Walk-out at Paris airport unresolved

Passengers faced delays at Charles de Gaulle airport in Paris and cancellations at Lyon on yesterday as a strike by security workers during the busy holiday season continued for a fourth day.

Talks aimed at ending the strike failed to take place yesterday. Unions said the action would continue on Tuesday and be extended to other airports.

Aeroports de Paris (ADP), which runs the capital’s airports, said passengers should expect delays at security checkpoints at Charles de Gaulle but that the city’s other main airport, Orly, was operating normally.

ADP said delays of 30 to 45 minutes were to be expected at checkpoints, in particular for international flights leaving Charles de Gaulle’s terminal 2.

The Lyon-Saint Exupery airport, France’s fourth busiest, was most badly hit by the strike, with 20 percent of flights cancelled. 

Other flights were facing delays and the airport warned that large baggage such as skis and golf bags would not be allowed through security checkpoints.
Toulouse airport was also facing delays of on average 20 minutes.
Unions said the strike would be extended today to airports including in Nice, the country’s third-busiest.
