Turkish student attacked in Poland as xenophobic crimes grow
WARSAW/ The Associated PressA Turkish citizen, a student at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, faced verbal insults and was attacked in the face over the weekend in a shop in the central Polish town, though the incident was not widely reported until several days later.
A university spokesman, Marcin Czyzniewski, told the TVN24 broadcaster on Oct. 11 that he feared the university could start losing students if people don’t feel safe there, and that would hurt the entire community.
