Turkish PM vows to reduce terrorism in New Year, ‘significant progress’ already made

Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has vowed to reduce terrorism in 2018 in his first public address of the new year.

He also said Turkey had already made major progress in the fight against terror.

Yıldırım visited the Turkish national police headquarters in Ankara, where he received information about the police department’s safety measures for New Year celebrations.

There, speaking to reporters in the first minutes of the New Year, Yıldırım said Turkey had already made significant progress in the fight against terror.

“Hopefully, in 2018, we will reduce the terrorist threat in places further down Turkey’s agenda,” he said, adding that terrorism was depleting Turkey’s energy.

Yıldırım said he hopes Turkey will rid itself of terror thanks to the efforts of its security forces.
