Turkey treats 60 peshmerga forces
AA PhotoAnkara has brought 60 Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) peshmerga forces to Turkey for treatment after they were injured fighting against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants, a written statement by the Foreign Ministry said on Sept. 25.
The ministry recalled that KRG authorities had made a call to diplomatic missions in Erbil in August for treatment of peshmerga forces.
The treatment of peshmerga forces was done in state hospitals and their transport and hospital costs were covered by Ankara, said the statement.
The ministry reiterated that Turkey would continue both military and humanitarian cooperation with international and regional actors as part of efforts to maintain peace and stability in the region.
