Turkish Airlines will resume international flights from Ankara on June 9. The airline will fly to 12 different international destinations 40 times a week including Moscow, Tehran, Baghdad, Vienna, Dusseldorf, Stockholm, Brussels, Amsterdam, Koln, Stuttgart, Berlin and Hamburg. Flights to Baghdad will be a first from Ankara.

Meanwhile, the chairman of Turkish Airlines and Kyrgyzstan’s prime minister met June 4 to discuss various plans, including one to convert the Central Asian country’s Bishkek and Osh airports into regional hubs.The meeting between Turkish Airlines Chairman Hamdi Topçu and Kyrgyz Prime Minister Omurbek Babanov and other officials occurred at Istanbul’s Atatürk International Airport.

In addition to their discussions on the projects, Babanov told reporters that Turkish Airlines had made key contributions to boosting relations between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan.

Babanov also said that Kyrgyzstan wanted to sell energy to Turkey as the country is a major energy producer.

“Energy costs in Kyrgyzstan are very low and this encourages foreign investment. I will speak with giant companies in Turkey regarding incentives for investment in Kyrgyzstan,” he said. Babanov is in Istanbul to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF).
