Three workers died in a fire at a packaging factory’s dorm in Turkey’s southern province of Mersin on Feb. 5.

The fire started in the early hours of Feb. 5 at the dorm of a fruit and vegetable packaging factory in Mersin’s Erdemli district, killing three workers and injuring six more.

The three workers, 25-year-old Murat Bulut, 27-year-old Mücahit Ünal and 18-year-old Umut Gönül, lost their lives in the fire that broke out around 2:00 a.m., during which six other fellow workers, who were also in the dorm during the fire, were affected by the smoke.

The six workers affected by the smoke were treated and afterwards discharged from a nearby hospital, while the bodies of the dead workers were brought to the province of Adana for a forensic analysis examination.

An investigation has been launched to find the cause of the fire, which has yet to be determined.
