Putin to meet Rouhani and Aliyev on Iran trip

Russian President Vladimir Putin will discuss the Syria crisis and energy cooperation with Iranian President Hassan Rou-hani and Iran’s top authority supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei when he visits Tehran today, the Kremlin said on Oct. 31.
“Syria-related issues will be on the agenda of the Russian-Iranian bilateral talks,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told a conference call with reporters. He did not elaborate.
Putin will also hold trilateral talks with Rouhani and lham Aliyev, the president of Azerbaijan, during his working visit to Tehran, Peskov said.
“Issues of economic cooperation will be chiefly discussed,” Peskov was quoted as saying by Russia’s state news agency TASS.
The Kremlin representative further said that the negotiations will also focus on infrastructural projects, including construction of a main railway line - the western branch of the North-South Transport Corridor.
In addition, the leaders will discuss cooperation in the energy sector and share opinions on current international problems.
