Passenger car sales fall 12.6 percent in January

Passenger car sales in Türkiye dropped 12.6 percent year-on-year by 8,097 units in January, according to data released by an industry group on Tuesday.
A total of 68,654 passenger cars and light commercial vehicles were sold across the country last month, falling 13.9 percent at an annualized pace, the Automotive Distributors’ and Mobility Association (ODMD) data showed.
Light commercial vehicle sales also dropped by 18.8 percent to 12,710 units during the same period.
In January, hybrid cars accounted for 29.7 percent of total automobile sales or 16,642 units, enjoying an annual surge of 61.5 percent.
Electric car sales also increased 56.7 percent from a year ago to 6,225 units in January, making up 11.1 percent of total sales.
