Palestine’s bid nets support

ANKARA - Hürriyet Daily News
The Turkish, Egyptian and Palestinian foreign ministers have called on the international community to support a Palestinian initiative to acquire non-member state status at the United Nations.

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu and Palestinian Ambassador to Ankara Nabil Maarouf will host a reception tomorrow in Ankara, where Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki and Egyptian Foreign Minister Mohammed Kamel Amr will also deliver speeches.

Representatives of all diplomatic missions and international organizations in Ankara are invited to the gathering. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas plans to ask the General Assembly of the United Nations that it grant Palestine the status of a non-member state, an initiative which was suspended until the U.S. elections finished as per Washington’s request. Palestine will seek support for the plan from at least 150 nations.
