The parts of the recently downed Turkish jet that have been retrieved to date represent not even 10 percent of the complete plane, Turkey’s defense minister said July 14.

It is not possible to determine what happened based upon the wreckage retrieved so far, with 90 percent of the plane still underwater, Defense Minister İsmet Yılmaz said. U.S. Ambassador Francis Ricciardone reiterated Yılmaz’s words. “We have nothing that contradicts what Turkey has put out there. The wreckage was found exactly where the Turkish Navy said we should expect to find them,” Riccardione told the Hürriyet Daily News yesterday in Istanbul, after swimming in the Intercontinental Bosphorus Race.

Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu also said Turkey had lost all of its prestige, referring to the latest statements Turkish officials have made regarding the downed jet.
