Nalan Yırtmaç’s exhibit at X-Ist
X-ist is welcoming Nalan Yırtmaç’s new exhibition, “Please Move Towards the Back II: Disastercity.” Yırtmaç, who has focused on radical urban transformation in the last four years, is presenting visitors with her new paintings and collages that she made using photos she took in different towns of Anatolia and in Istanbul. Yırtmaç, who questions the concepts behind the ongoing construction and destruction activities, such as the right to shelter, immigration, mandatory evacuation, unearned income and other issues, tracks the dream of “finding a place to live” in ongoing urban renewal activities that are occurring in riverbeds, forests and cultivated fields, as well as in cities.
