Local cement sales may rise 5 percent

The Turkish cement sector’s domestic sales might rise by 5 percent this year, according to Mustafa Güçlü, the top executive of the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TCMB), yesterday at a press meeting in Istanbul.

Total domestic sales could reach 58.5 million tons by the end of this year, Güçlü said.

Member firms of the association have produced nearly 52.2 million tons of the country’s total domestic sales out of the 55.7 million tons of cement produced last year. 

Turkey’s total domestic cement sales were approximately 50 million tons in 2010. Domestic cement sales rose by 11 percent last year compared to the previous period, according to Güçlü.
