Latin Cultural Week to enliven Ankara

Latin dance shows will be presented at the Ankamall, Nata-Vega, and Panora Armada shopping malls during the Latin Cultural Week in Turkish capital.

The Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry and the embassies of numerous Latin American countries have organized a “Latin American Cultural Week,” which will open today and continue until May 19.

According to a written statement made by the ministry, Latin American culture will be promoted over the course of week.

Latin dance shows will be presented at the Ankamall, Nata-Vega, and Panora Armada shopping malls, while selected films from Latin American cinema will be shown at the Cer Modern Arts Center.

The Latin American Cultural Week will continue with the “Latin American Literary Tradition Conference,” which will be attended by Venezuelan writers on May 15.

Ecuadorean pianist Fernando Baez will give a recital at the Painting and Sculpture Museum on May 16.

World salsa champion


On May 18 the world salsa champion Swing Latino will present a show at the Ankamall shopping mall.

Swing Latino has won multiple salsa dance contest in their native land of Colombia and in the United States, including the 2004 World Congress “Salsa Open” in Philadelphia, the 2005 World Salsa Dancing Federation’s Championship in Miami, and the Las Vegas Salsa Championships. For transportation to the event venues, there will be free busses from Gazi, Ankara, ODTÜ, Hacettepe and Bilkent universities.
