Hitachi acquires Turkish company in bid to further strengthen healthcare business Hitachi has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire a 75 percent stake in Turkey’s Kurt & Kurt and aims to make it a consolidated subsidiary of Hitachi by April 1, 2017.

Through the acquisition, Hitachi will gain the healthcare business platform that would help further expand its global business and strengthen operation services for hospital imaging centers, the company stated on Dec. 9.

The new subsidiary in Turkey will be positioned as the fifth strategic center for the global operations in healthcare business, according to the statement.

Hitachi plans to expand its sales channels of diagnostic systems to provide solutions including operation services for hospital imaging centers in Turkey, Central Asia and the Middle East and Africa by taking advantage of Kurt & Kurt’s business base, said the statement, adding that Hitachi promotes globalizing the solution business by providing Hitachi’s superior surgical treatment solutions and radiation therapy systems.

Kurt & Kurt, established in 1977, has been delivering a wide range of products including Hitachi’s diagnostic systems to customers in mainly Turkey and Central Asia for over 30 years, according to the statement.

I envision that our works would contribute to the healthcare development and improve the quality of life in the region,” said Masaya Watanabe, Vice President and Executive Officer, CEO of Hitachi’s Healthcare Business Unit.
