Filmmor to kick off for 10th time

Female directors from around the world will be guests at a Turkish festival focusing on films about women.The 10th International Filmmor Women’s Film Festival will run March 9 to March 19 in Istanbul. The festival will also feature workshops and photography exhibitions for and about women.
Against the backdrop of practical inequalities that lead to violence and even murder against women, as well as statements and actions against gender equality, this year’s festival is organized under the slogan “We Are Equal.” The main question the festival asks is: “But what about the reality?”
The festival will move on to Van and Çanakkale and other Turkish cities with the support of different associations. It will host more than 70 films from 20 countries.
Among other exclusive events, a program will be presented under the title of “The 10 Years of Filmmor.” The program will start with Alice Guy-Blache, the first female director of a fiction movie. The opening of the festival is due to host an award program, which will give prizes to 10 female directors. There will be documentaries, shorts, feature films and animation movies in the festival. Marie Mandy will be the guest of honor this year. with her movie “Filming Desire.”
