KONYA - Anadolu Agency
Konya has wrapped up hosting part of the fifth Tanpınar Literature (İTEF), during which it welcomed famous Argentine writer Alberto Manguel to the Central Anatolian province.

Manguel visited historical places, such as the Mevlana Museum, which author Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, for whom the festival is named, mentioned in his book titled “Five Cities.”

The festival brought together readers and writers in Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Erzurum and Konya between Oct. 30 and Nov. 10. Sixty-one writers from 15 countries ultimately participated in the event.

Manguel also met writers and academics in the city during a program organized by Konya Municipality. Stating that he knew Konya was the home of Rumi, the author said the city displayed perfect harmony between the old and the new.

Besides Konya, Manguel will also make visits to Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa and Erzurum, the cities in Tanpınar’s work, and participate in various programs. His experiences in the five cities will be gathered in a book as part of the project called “Five Cities in the Footsteps of Tanpınar.”
