A group of business organizations and non-governmental organizations, with membership numbers totaling 50 million, visited Gaziantep over the weekend to lend support to the southern province, which was hit by a deadly car bomb attack on Aug. 20 that killed nine people and wounded 68.
The terrorists made a big mistake this time by targeting Gaziantep, said the head Turkey’s Union of Chamber and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Rifat Hisarcıklıoğlu.

A large delegation, also including Ümit Boyner of the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD) and Bendevi Palandöken from the Confederation of Turkish Craftsmen and Tradesmen (TESK), along with trade union and business association leaders, visited the Gaziantep Mayor Asım Güzelbey and Governor Erdal Ata before speaking to local business people on the streets of the city center.

“Gaziantep has been a role model for Turkey with its level of development and economy. Besides, it is a symbolic city for brotherhood and national unity. Terror has made a big mistake here,” said Hisarcıklıoğlu.
He also thanked President Abdullah Gül and the leaders of political parties for painting a picture of unity in Gaziantep.
