Turkish investors would be welcome in helping the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina develop its transport infrastructure and enhance digitalization, according to Transport and Communication Minister Damir Hadzic.
“We want to develop road infrastructure in Bosnia Herzegovina and enhance digitalization in the country. We have a highway corridor project to connect Albania, Macedonia, Montenegro and Croatia. Our aim is to rehabilitate this network and stabilize it,” Hadzic said, on the sidelines of the Istanbul sessions of the 15th Eurasian Economic Summit yesterday.
The necessary conditions for speedy economic development are present in Bosnia Herzegovina, he said, adding that the reinforcement of the country’s infrastructure would serve as Bosnia’s economic engine. “I am inviting Turkish investors to partake in these projects in our country,” Hadzic said.
Conforming to European norms, diversifying sources
Bosnia Herzegovina aims to establish a national infrastructure, build connections with neighboring countries and other European states, set up multi–directional transport systems, conform to European norms, diversify its financial resources, and integrate with the European Union, according to Bosnian Minister Hadzic.
Bosnian Federal Education and Science Minister Demir Masic, Federal Finance Minister Ante Krajina, and Federal Development Minister Sanjin Halimovic also made separate presentations at the special “Bosnia Herzegovina Session.”
Bosnian Energy, Mining and Industry Minister Erdal Thrulj also underlined his country’s role as an exporter of electricity to other states in the region. “32 small-scale hydroelectric power stations have been established to date. The total installed capacity amounts to 34 megawatts. The amount of energy generated by the Federation of Bosnia Herzegovina in 2010 equals approximately 10 terawatts per hour. 17 percent of this goes to exports. High quality interconnection lines provide a great opportunity for electricity trade in Bosnia Herzegovina.”
