2 arrested in Feb 28 probe

Two retired military officers were arrested yesterday on charges in the post-modern coup probe on May 3 though they had been released in earlier stages of the investigation.

Mustafa Kemal Savcı ve and İbrahim Yazıcı were arrested yesterday upon the appeal of the prosecutor, the Anatolia news agency reported. The court released the two after intensive questioning on April 26. A total of 28 suspects, including former Gen. Çevik Bir and Gen. Fevzi Türkeri, were arrested in previous waves of the same probe which looks into the military’s role in toppling Necmettin Erbakan’s government in 2007.
