Salt hosts talk on arts, politics

Salt hosts talk on arts, politics Hakkı Başgüney and Ahmet Gürata will speak about “Politicization of art, increasing political interest in art, 1970s Turkey” and “A long walk against censorship: Censorship protest in 1977” at Salt Beyoğlu.

In 2004 Başgüney graduated from the Department of Philosophy and received his M.A. from the Atatürk Institute for Modern Turkish History at Boğaziçi University. Başgüney is continuing his PhD at Boğaziçi and Strasbourg universities and focuses on cinema and political debates. Gürata teaches at the Faculty of Communication and Design of Bilkent University. Gürata has published articles on remakes, documentation, reception and the history of Turkish cinema. He continues to write for magazines Express and bir+bir. The talk will be held in Turkish.
