Turkish mechanic turns junk cars into classics

Thirty-two-year-old Dinçer Zorlu said he started modifying cars as his hobby years ago and transformed it into his main business after his successes, Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency reported on July 26.
“Nostalgia has recently become a trend in Turkey and classic cars are very popular. Our company receives too much demand for a revision of cars from the 1940s,” Zorlu said.
So far, Zorlu’s firm has restored 46 cars, some of which were redesigned from scratch, such as the 1993 model cargo truck...
...which was almost junk...
...but was ultimately converted to an off-road vehicle...
...that looks pretty good now...
The Volkwagen Beetle 1974 is another example of Zorlu’s creations.
Hand-made renovation of a car takes between five months to two years.
“It is hard work, demanding much patience. It also takes time to provide some spare parts,” Zorlu said.
Some customers want modern equipment for old cars, such as hi-tech music systems, which Zorlu’s firm also provides.
Sometimes, Zorlu comes up with new ideas, such as installing a fully equipped barbecue table inside the front trunk of a Beetle. “When it is completed, it is such a delight to look at the finished work,” he added.
