Turkish man manages to capture rare footage of ermine
An amateur photographer in the eastern Turkish province of Tunceli has managed to capture rare footage of an ermine. Click through for the story in photos...
Local media reported Feb. 15 that Mutlu Akın, 22, took photos and videos of the ermine in Tunceli’s Koyungölü village.
The species, also known as stoud or short-tailed weasel around the world, is under protection in Turkey. Due to its dwindling numbers and quick nature, it is increasingly harder to photograph ermines in the east of the country.
“I have been seeing an ermine each winter in the past five years. I’ve finally managed to capture one on camera. It is such a beautiful animal,” Akın said.
"It was probably looking for food near my house."
