Turkey’s exotic Hoynat Island draws visitors
An exotic piece of land hidden in the Black Sea province of Ordu, the Hoynat Island attracts attention with its nature, unparalleled landscape and bird sanctuary. (DHA Photo)
One of the rare places in which European shag nest, the island is home to over 300 birds.
Even though entrances to the island have been prohibited in a bid to protect the ecosystem, sailors used it as a shelter and warehouse back in the day.
Hoynat has been declared an “important bird area” due to its high potential in birdwatching.
