Ancient settlement discovered during construction in western Turkey
A 2,000-year-old ancient settlement was discovered during the construction of the Honaz Tunnel in the western province of Denizli’s Pamukkale district. (AA Photo)
The ancient site has been declared “Hamambaşı Archeological Settlement Area,” with a decision made by the Aydın Cultural Heritage Protection Board.
The road construction works have been halted due to the findings, and alternative routes for the tunnel have been determined, Denizli Culture and Tourism Provincial Head Turhan Veli Akyol said.
