Iraqi PM ‘accepts’ key offer
IRAQ - Anatolia News AgencyIraqi Parliamentary Speaker Usame Nuceyfi said Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki had accepted his proposed solution to the dispute with the Kurdistan Regional Governement (KRG).
Nuceyfi said his offer included withdrawing military forces from disputed areas and replacing them with local police forces in Kirkuk, and hoped the KRG would also accept this offer.
There is a possibility of a clash between the KRG and Iraqi central government, which “a third party” is trying to incite, Usame Nuceyfi told a press conference in Baghdad.
He also called on both sides to reduce tension and said related parties would be responsible for resulting consequences.
