Dan Berglund to take to the Salon İKSV stage

Swedish bassist and composer Dan Berglund is giving a concert at Salon İKSV tonight with his band Tonbruket. The concert starts at 10 p.m. and tickets are available at Biletix booths. While studying at the Royal Music Academy in Stockholm in the 1990s, Dan Berglund met Esbjörn Svensson, who was attending the Royal Music University. He played for many years with the Esbjörn Svensson Trio, known as the “best trio of the last 10 years.” He formed Tonbruket after the death of Esbjörn Svensson in 2008 and took to the stage in the 18th Istanbul Jazz Festival’s exclusive event, “A Strange Place for Jazz.” He dedicated the song “Le Var,” which appears on their latest album “Dig It to the End,” to Ravel. The band’s music is best defined as jazz timbres with a hint of progressive rock.
