Country’s fast-charging network triples in one year

Türkiye has rapidly expanded its electric vehicle infrastructure, with the number of fast-charging stations tripling in just one year to reach 16,650 nationwide.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Technology’s 2025 Activity Report, the initiative is part of the country’s National Technology Move, which aims to strengthen mobility and clean energy systems across all 81 provinces.

The ministry’s Directorate General of National Technology and Artificial Intelligence has overseen the development of EV charging infrastructure, following a presidential directive that classified fast-charging investments as high-impact projects eligible for state support. This led to the launch of the Technological Product Investment Support Program for Electric Vehicle Fast-Charging Infrastructure, which has already resulted in the installation of 1,053 stations across the country.

The program was later expanded to ensure equal access nationwide and to address gaps in underserved regions. As a result, the number of high-speed charging stations rose from 5,175 in 2024 to 16,650 by the end of last year.

The surge in infrastructure coincides with strong growth in Türkiye’s automotive market.

Data from the Automotive Distributors and Mobility Association (ODMD) shows that car sales in 2025 increased by 10.62 percent to 1,084,496 units, while light commercial vehicle sales rose by 9.97 percent to 283,904. Fully electric car sales reached 189,868, and when extended-range electric vehicles are included, the total climbed to 191,960, representing a 17.7 percent market share.
