Solar to take largest share in installed capacity by year-end: Minister

Solar energy is set to take the largest component of Türkiye’s total installed electricity capacity by the end of the year, Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar has said.
Commenting on the latest data, Bayraktar noted that as of the end of March, solar power capacity had reached 26,478 megawatts, accounting for 21.2 percent of total installed capacity.
“By the end of this year, solar will hold the largest share in total installed capacity,” he said.
Bayraktar added that Türkiye recorded a significant milestone in 2025 by bringing online approximately 6,000 megawatts of solar power and 2,000 megawatts of wind capacity.
According to data from the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry, Türkiye’s total installed electricity capacity rose to 125,078 megawatts as of the end of March.
Renewable energy sources accounted for 78,281 megawatts of this total, representing 62.4 percent of overall installed capacity.
Wind power capacity reached 15,039 megawatts by the end of March, while its share in total electricity generation stood at 12 percent.
Combined, solar and wind energy capacity climbed to 41,517 megawatts, making up 33.2 percent of total installed capacity.
