PKK kills 3 soldiers in southeastern Turkey

ANKARA

Three Turkish soldiers were killed and one was injured in an attack by the outlawed PKK militants in southeastern Turkey on May 4, the National Defense Ministry said.

PKK militants in northern Iraq launched mortar fire into Turkey's southeastern Hakkari province, the ministry said.

An operation was launched in the area to apprehend the assailants.

PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union.
