Türkiye’s intelligence chief İbrahim Kalın is due to join Saudi and Pakistani officials in Tehran on Oct. 26 for regional security talks aimed at easing tensions between Iran and the United States.

Turkish security sources confirmed Kalın’s participation to Anadolu Agency.

Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, are also expected to attend.

Ali Bagheri Kani, deputy secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, told state television that the delegation would meet the council’s secretary, Mohsen Rezaei.

Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister for Public Diplomacy Rayed Krimly confirmed the visit in a post on X, saying the officials would also meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.

Krimly said the visit was part of efforts by Türkiye, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, the three members of the Mecca defense pact, to reduce tensions, encourage dialogue and promote diplomatic solutions to the U.S.-Iran crisis.

The talks would also support mediation efforts led by Qatar and Pakistan, he added.

Bagheri said the discussions would focus on regional security, reiterating Iran’s position that countries in the region should take responsibility for their own security and opposing intervention by outside powers.
