Erdoğan reaffirms ‘Century of Türkiye’ goal on Republic Day
ANKARA
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s mausoleum in Ankara on Oct. 29 to mark the republic’s 103rd anniversary, pledging to pursue his “Century of Türkiye” vision.
Erdoğan and senior state officials walked along the Lion Road at Anıtkabir before the president laid a wreath at the republic founder’s tomb. The delegation then observed a moment of silence and sang the national anthem.
“We will continue to work with determination until we achieve our goal of the Century of Türkiye,” Erdoğan wrote in the mausoleum’s memorial book.
In his message, Erdoğan paid tribute to Atatürk, his comrades-in-arms and those who died for the country, recalling the sacrifices made in founding the republic.
He said efforts were continuing on several fronts to secure a prosperous future for the country and its people.
Erdoğan also cited Atatürk’s March 1, 1922, address to parliament, in which he said no force could deter the nation from pursuing its cause. He described the “Century of Türkiye” as a national cause guided by those words.
