A group of drivers got out of their cars to play a game of football on Istanbul's Fatih Sultan Mehmet (FSM) bridge today after vehicles became stranded in a traffic jam that stretched for kilometers.

Maintenance work began on the FSM bridge on June 18, closing down two lanes of the eight-lane bridge. Long traffic jams and hours spent commuting every day have become a daily routine for Istanbul residents ever since.

Several drivers, however, were determined to break the routine, as they got out of their vehicles and started playing football on a stretch of asphalt closed to traffic, right after the toll station and before the beginning of the FSM bridge.

The football game was caught on traffic cameras, which were later published on Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's website.
