Yılmaz Güney Festival accepting submissions

The submission deadline for the second Yılmaz Güney Culture and Arts Festival in the categories of cinema (short and documentary), short stories, cartoons, poetry and photography has been scheduled for Jan. 15, 2012.

The festival, organized by Istanbul’s Yüz Çiçek Açsın Culture Center with contributions of the Yılmaz Güney Culture and Arts Foundation, began accepting submissions Nov. 7. The festival will take place Jan. 15 to March 15, 2012, and an award ceremony will be held March 31.

The festival venues and program will be announced Jan. 1. Awards, which have no monetary value, will be given at the end of the festival.

The festival, organized in the name of late Turkish director and actor Yılmaz Güney, aims to bring together amateur and professional artists on a common platform and encourage production.

Eleven leading films by Güney, which have been transferred to the digital environment with efforts of the Yılmaz Güney Foundation, will be screened at the festival. The proceeds of the festival will be given to the foundation.
