UN urges Turkey to coact more in Somalia

United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Valerie Amos said the U.N. desired closer cooperation with Turkey in Somalia and closer ties with the Turkish Embassy in Mogadishu.

The U.N. asked Ankara to more closely cooperate for the coordination of humanitarian assistance to Somalia.

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu met with Amos in Konya yesterday.

Amos told Davutoğlu the U.N. wanted to continue cooperation with Turkey’s new embassy in Mogadishu, diplomatic sources said.

The Turkish foreign minister said Turkey would keep up humanitarian aid assistance to Somalia.
