Two soldiers killed in clashes with PKK in Turkey’s east

Two specialized sergeants were killed in clashes with outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in the Samanlı neighborhood of the Şemdinli district of the eastern province of Hakkari on Aug. 29.   

A military operation against the PKK’s presence in the Şemdinli was initiated on Aug. 28, during which 10 PKK militants were killed. 

Shield helicopters from the Hakkari Mountain and Commando Brigade Commandership have been sent to the area in support of the operation, which is ongoing.
