Two of the planned 100 houses to be built by the Sivas Municipality in Central Anatolia inspired by the world of Middle Earth have been completed.

Inspired by “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” movie franchises directed by Peter Jackson and based on the novels written by J.R.R. Tolkien, two “hobbit houses” have been built by the Sivas Municipality into the hillside around the Paşabahçe Picnic Area and Resort Area, some five kilometers from the city center. The houses, modeled after the distinctive hobbit architecture seen in the movies, have attracted a lot of attention.

Though only two of the 65-square-meter houses, which contain a kitchen, bathroom and bedroom, have been built so far, the number is expected to rise to between 50 and 100, depending on demand.

Built into the hillside, the furnished houses will be available for rental for week or month-long durations.
