Türkiye’s annual inflation eases to 31.75 pct in July

Türkiye’s annual consumer inflation eased to 31.75 percent in July from 32.11 percent in June, while prices rose 1.78 percent month-on-month, official data showed on Aug. 3.

Both readings were marginally below an Anadolu Agency survey of economists, which forecast monthly inflation of 1.82 percent and an annual rate of 31.80 percent.

Consumer prices rose 19.86 percent from the end of 2025, while the 12-month average inflation rate stood at 31.90 percent, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

Among the three expenditure groups with the largest weights in the index, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels recorded the strongest annual increase at 40.32 percent.

Food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose 37.53 percent from a year earlier, while transport prices increased 30.83 percent.

Food made the largest contribution to annual inflation at 8.94 percentage points, followed by transport at 5.22 points and housing at 5.21 points.

On a monthly basis, transport prices increased 2.59 percent, housing costs rose 2.25 percent and food prices climbed 1.61 percent.

Prices increased in 117 of the 174 subclasses covered by the index, declined in 50 and remained unchanged in seven.

A core inflation gauge excluding unprocessed food, energy, alcoholic beverages, tobacco and gold rose 1.66 percent month-on-month. Its annual rate eased to 30.98 percent from 31.18 percent in June.
