Turkish VP, trade minister hold talks with US envoy on ties, sanctions

Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz met with U.S. Ambassador to Türkiye Tom Barrack on Thursday to address bilateral relations, the defense industry, CAATSA sanctions and regional developments.
The meeting took place at the Presidential Complex in Ankara.In a post on his social media account, Yılmaz highlighted discussions on strengthening ties and deepening cooperation in concrete areas.
He noted that the talks covered enhancing economic and trade relations, along with a comprehensive review of key issues, including the defense sector and CAATSA sanctions.
Yılmaz added that they exchanged views on recent developments in Iran and Syria, as well as regional and global matters within the framework of the second phase of the Gaza peace plan.
He thanked Ambassador Barrack for his constructive contributions and commitment to bolstering cooperation between the two countries.
Separately, Trade Minister Ömer Bolat met with Barrack, who also serves as the US Special Envoy for Syria, to review trade relations and progress.
Bolat shared details of the discussion at the Trade Ministry via his social media account.
In his post, Bolat stated: "We assessed the state of Türkiye-U.S. trade relations, recorded developments, and our plans and expectations for the coming months. We highlighted that trade and economic cooperation form a vital part of bilateral ties, and agreed on exploring opportunities in new areas."
