Turkish universities retain places in world rankings

ISTANBUL

Turkish universities have once again maintained their prestige and performances, according to latest figures from the Times Higher Education’s (THE) best universities list — this time in the fields of “computer sciences” and “engineering technology.”

In the first area, five Turkish universities were listed, whereas in the second area, 19 Turkish universities were on the rankings list. In the top universities list of computer sciences, Boğaziçi University and Sabancı University were in the range ranking from 301-400, whereas Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) was in the range ranking from 401-500. Bilkent University and Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) were on the other in the range ranking from 501-600.

In the top universities list of engineering and technology, Bilkent, Boğaziçi and Sabancı universities were in the range ranking from 251-300, whereas Koç University was in the range ranking 301-400. Again in this same field, İTÜ was in the range ranking 401-500 and ODTÜ was in the range ranking 501-600.

The rankings, unveiled on Nov. 29, use the same 13 indicators — including research, knowledge transfer to industry and international outlook — to asses a university are the same used in the overall THE World University Rankings 2019 list.

The computer science ranking includes 684 universities and the engineering and technology ranking includes 903 institutions.

The THE announces annual publications of rankings among world’s universities, prepared by the London-based THE magazine.

The reports consist of overall, subject and reputation rankings of universities and are considered to be one of the most trusted institutes on this matter.
