Turkish universities rank third in THE Asia 2026

Türkiye has become the third most represented country in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings, which assessed 929 universities across 36 countries and regions.
Published by the London-based ranking body, the evaluation measured institutions across 18 indicators, including teaching environment, research quality, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
Türkiye placed 109 universities in the rankings, trailing only India and Japan. Of these, four universities entered the top 100, seven ranked within the top 200 and 14 within the top 300, while 29 institutions secured positions in the top 500.
Koç University led national performance, rising from 79th to 73rd place. Middle East Technical University ranked 78th, followed by Sabancı University at 82nd. Istanbul Technical University maintained its position in the top 100 at 97th. Boğaziçi University advanced to 102nd, Bilkent University climbed to 137th and Yıldız Technical University moved up to 171st.
