Turkish theater play on stage in Swedish cities

The play ‘God of Carnage’ tours Swedish cities to promote Turkish theater.

State Theaters is staging its award-winning play “Vahşet Tanrısı” (God of Carnage) in Sweden in early April.

According to a written statement made by State Theaters, the Turkish-Swedish National Theater Institution, which aims to present high-quality artistic productions to those living in Sweden and to promote modern Turkish theater among Swedish people, staged the play on April 6 at the Moriska Paviljongen in Malmo. The next presentations will be on April 7 at the Teater Aftonstjarnan in Gothenburg and on April 9 at the Södra Teatern in Stockholm at 6 p.m.

Written by Yasmina Rezza, the play stars Ülkü Duru, Zafer Algöz, Zerrin Tekindor and İşdar Gökseven. For their successful performances in “God of Carnage,” actress Tekindor received the Year’s Best Musical or Comedy Actress Award at the 14th Afife Theater Awards, and Duru received the Year’s Best Actress Award at the 2009-2010 Sadri Alışık Theater Awards.
