Turkish social media abuzz with Erdoğan walkout

'Metin, can you come here for a moment?'

Thousands of Turkish social media users praised Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for storming out of a Council of State speech over the "rudeness" of Turkey's top lawyer, Metin Feyzioğlu, on May 10, but thousands of others ridiculed him for the act of insouciance.

Two hashtags supporting Erdoğan and one supporting Feyzioğlu remained on the Worldwide Trending Topics (TT) list on Twitter, even hours after the incident.

#HaddiniBilFEYZİOĞLU (Know your place, Feyzioğlu) was the most popular hashtag, while "#YanındayızFeyzioğlu" (We support you, Feyzioğlu) followed it in the list. "#CüppeliSiyaseti TokatlayanErdoğan (Erdoğan slaps the politics in [judicial] robes) was another TT hashtag.

Many social media users also tried to create viral memes with Erdoğan's photos, either shot during the incident or taken from the archives, while providing them with fictional captions. Here are three popular memes making the rounds:

1) President Abdullah Gül to Prime Minister Erdoğan: "For God's sake, please stop! Everyone's staring at us..."

2) "Which one is Metin's house?"

3) President Abdullah Gül: "Come on, it's not worth it!"
Prime Minister Erdoğan: "Let me go... I'm going to finish him off!"
