Turkish police start nationwide anti-drug operation

The Turkish police started a synchronized anti-drug operation this morning in Istanbul and four other provinces, detaining 19 suspects.

Istanbul anti-narcotic police raided a building in the central Beyoğlu district early this morning and seized 40 kilograms marijuana and detained two suspects.

Also in the Central Anatolian province of Konya, southern provinces of Adana, Antalya and eastern province of Gaziantep, police raided many addresses after a six-month-long investigation and detained 17 suspects, seizing 81 kilograms of marijuana, 7,500 kilos of opiate drugs, 1.5 kilos of heroin and some cocaine.
